I think this is what Selector Robin was thinking when he wanted dancing music! It's a simple recipe, combine equal parts reggae with hip hop and you get an instant party banger! You may laugh but anything with Beyonce, Rihanna, Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye or Wu Tang is instant gold and as I said before, it will get the girls on the floor! I remember a few years back when the little blank 7" was king, a new one was dropping every week on Fat City - Primetime, Jstar, Heatwave, Rhythm and Booze, Upstate, The Nextmen, Bombist and Niceup ruled the scene and the dancefloors! Be careful with the mashup though, it's gotta be an instantly recognisable vocal spliced perfectly with skanking instrumental, anything mistimed is a dud and absolutely no cheesy Queen or Led Zep mashups allowed. I always drop em quick with versions aplenty to keep the energy inna dance and don't forget to turn it up!

I've always loved the jazzy hip-hop sound, with Blue Note (among others) samples forming the basis of a lot of 90's hip hop.
